Go to a Show (or two)

-

SUMMER FOR most Land Rover fans means show business – in other words getting along to as many of the great outdoor events as you can manage. There you’ll meet thousands of like-minded enthusiasts, get to browse among the brilliant trade stands, check out the club displays, find some bargain bits in the autojumble and, of course, get bedazzled by countless Land Rovers of every description.

The show season kicks off on Friday May 26 at Tiverton, Devon, with the opening of the Big Outdoors, which as its name suggests is aimed at camping and adventure-loving thrill seekers as well as Land Rover and off-road enthusiasts. What makes it different is that it includes workshops and seminars by experts on everything from overlanding to bush craft. Check it out at thebigoutdoors.org

But the biggest treat for aficionados of the green oval comes on July 21-22 with the Original Land Rover Show at Kelmarsh. This is the successor of the world’s oldest and greatest event – the Billing Show – which has outgrown its original home at the Billing Aquadrome, Northampton, and moved to a new, stunning location a few miles north, just off the A14.

The LRM team will be there and we will again be running the legendary LRM Driving Challenge in the main arena. It is unmissable – go to kelmarshlandrovershow.com

Other events well worth attending include the Great British Land Rover Show (November 26, greatbritishlrshow.com) and the Dunsfold Collection Open Weekend (June 10-11, dunsfoldcollection.co.uk/ land-rover-show).
