It’s 20 years now since the original Freelander was launched, which means there are a lot of neglected old nails around for an asking price of a few hundred quid. But if you look around there are some tasty bargains to be had, like the 2000 1.8 XI Station Wagon featured here, at £990, and again on ebay.

Yes, I know it’s the 1.8 petrol K-series engine that has a dubious reputation, but this one has only done 44,000 miles for one owner and has recently had the cambelt and head gasket changed. It’s for sale by a dealer at Hyde, Cheshire. It’s immaculate.
