A DECADE ago there were plenty of cheap and cheerful Series IIIS. Not any more, but you can still find sensiblypriced restoration projects. SIIIS still make affordable everyday motors, as parts are reasonably priced and readily available. The simplicity of the design makes them ideal for the home mechanic. Tidy originals command higher prices. The Stage One V8 is particularly sought-after. Look after your Series III and it will hold its value. Diesels sluggish. BUYER’S TIP: There are still a few bargains out there. SPECIFICATIONS 2.25 petrol/diesel and transmissions as Series IIA, 2.6 six-cylinder produced up to 1979.
