WINTERWONDERLAND

Land Rovers were built for this time of the year... get out and enjoy them

- Editor Patrick Cruywagen

I’ve really enjoyed putting this issue together and I’m pretty confident that you will have a similar experience reading it. Winter is that time of the year when we stock up on logs for the burner and make sure that our Land Rovers are ready for the cold onslaught. Some might argue Land Rovers come ready-made for the snow, wind and rain, which is why if you want to avoid the everincreasing masses of tourists in Iceland, then the only way to do it is in a 4x4. It’s without a doubt one of the most incredible places you can visit in a Land Rover – we tell you everything you need to know about visiting Iceland on page 48.

The biggest mistake a Land Rover owner can make in the winter is to take out a subscription TV package. It’s actually the perfect time to get off the sofa and see some real action, and what better way to start than with our list of 15 fun things to do in your Land Rover (p.64). In our tech section Ed Evans tells you how to install heated seats (p.150) and essential winter checks (p.162), so you have got no excuse. As 2018 is the year that celebrates 70 years of the Land Rover, you can read the second instalment of our Land Rover Legends series on page 98. This time the spotlight falls on Mike Foster, the adventurer who has done a crossing or two of the Sahara – in a Land Rover, of course.

While most people are showing off their all-new Discovery on the school run or at the races, my dear friend Kingsley Holgate and his expedition team took two of them to the most dangerous country on the planet, Somalia. Read all about his Extreme East adventure on (p.90).

People are doing incredible things in Land Rovers and so should you this winter! I’m off to Wales to go laning and camping...
