JE Motorworks Defender
Land Rover and Range Rover performance and styling specialist JE Motorworks is to launch a new Defender range to celebrate 43 years in business.
The ‘super-duper’ spec cars will based on a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine from Ford tuning company Roush, boasting 610 bhp and 516 lb ft of torque, and available in manual or automatic depending on the customer’s preference. It also promises to have improved levels of dynamics and comfort, as well as performance.
The ‘retro-spec’ JE Defenders will feature variations of the classic Rover V8 (starting at (250 bhp) and with more than four decades of developing these motors and for customers who use them on a daily basis prospective clients should be assured they are investing in a Defender that has been built to be both useable and reliable.
“We’re not totally convinced that the naturally-aspirated Rover V8 should be pushed to 400 bhp like it has in the new Defender Works from Land Rover. Unless you’re going racing – around 340bhp is a realistic maximum figure in a 4x4 and while this V8 is less powerful than either of our supercharged engines, it is more lightweight and sits well in the chassis,” said Jonathan Douglas, MD of JE Engineering.
