Welcome to Defender Rd

-

The article in September’s LRM featuring Gary Wilton and his collection of Land Rovers was very interesting as he lives on the same road as I do. I have spoken with him before about his love for Land Rovers, however I wasn’t quite aware how many beautiful machines he had!

It seems like almost every property on our road has a Defender – besides Gary’s first prototype One Ten, another has one of the last 110s and one of the first Series I. And there are others in between!

I wanted to be a bit different and have a modified soft top. I bought it about a year ago and it was in a horrendous state. Every panel was dented or caved in and was just horrid.

I have since had work done to bring it up to a more presentable standard as you can see in the picture (below) and I thought I’d share it with the world.

I’m sure diehard fans won’t like the modifications – as many like to see original motors – however there is a massive market it seems for modified Defenders, so perhaps somebody would

like to see it. It’s a lovely car but still needs a lot of work. I have put wooden floors in the front and back as well as seats from an RX8 which fit perfectly and look like they were made for the car.

It’s also got the Tomb Raider alloys, which you don’t see too often. It has a straight-through exhaust pipe and the whistle from the Turbo is to die for!

If you ever wanted to do a piece on the diversity of the Defender – our road definitely has it all. Adam Chapman Norfolk

That’s a very special road you live down, Adam. I wonder if anyone can beat that? LRM is looking for the top Land Rover road in Britain, so nominate your street by contacting us at the usual address, we look forward to hearing from you – Ed.
