Range Rover Sport of the future
WONDERING WHAT Land Rovers of the future may look like? Well, this could be it. Land Rover North America has revealed the futuristic Range Rover Sport that is featured in the American-british TV series ‘The First’, a near-future drama about a crew of astronauts attempting to become the first humans on Mars.
Michael Curmi, Brand Experience Director, Jaguar Land Rover said. “It was an exciting challenge to work with Westward Productions and co-producer Hulu to create a vision of what a Range Rover Sport might look like in the 2030s.”
The futurised features, some of which were added in post-production, include fully autonomous driving capabilities, an exterior Smart Light Bar that acts as a 360 degree sensor and enhances the occupant experience by communicating with other vehicles and reading the road surfaces, and an optional steering wheel that can retract into the dashboard.
It also boasts wraparound Privacy Glass that can change reflectivity from a virtually opaque mirrored surface to a traditionally transparent window in seconds, and an intelligent interior that can change shape, density and form to act as a passive safety system. Clever stuff.
Land Rover and Hulu developed custom videos detailing the build of the futurised Range Rover vehicle, and the co-branded content will be shared on the Land Rover digital and @Landroverusa social media platforms, including Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. LRM would like to clarify, in order to avoid any law suits, that the vehicle’s features and capabilities were created specifically for Hulu and are not an accurate description of current Land Rover vehicles, or a reflection of what may be available in the future.
