DEFENDER JAM SUCCESS
THE SECOND annual Defender Jam with Exmoor and Britpart was a great success, and raised £476.64 for the brain injury clinic in Glasgow – a cause close to organiser Martyn Henderson’s heart, after they helped him with an injury a few years back.
Once again, it was held within the stunning 2000-acre grounds of the boutique hotel Monachyle Mhor in Balquhidder, at the foot of stunning Scottish mountains. The idea is to bring together like-minded people, good food and drink, live music, and of course Land Rovers, for a fun-filled family festival, and the ingredients certainly work.
With on-site camping and the very popular Strathearn Engineering Green Laning track that incorporated mud, grass, stone, a stream and loch (yes people actually got to drive through part of a loch), autojumble and stalls with art, merchandise, toys and more, there was something for everyone.
Scottish specialists, including Gibsons Auto Spares, Engine 710, Lix Toll, Retroworks, Lauderdale LR and even the Taggarts dealership, were in attendance too, which meant an eclectic mix of Land Rovers to please all tastes, from Series models to vehicles from Twisted and Bowler, Camel Trophy and G4s to the latest Discovery, and everything in between. Most of the food was served up from inside specially-converted Defenders and, come nightfall, the Compact Disco Defender DJ box was in action.
Once again Defender Jam proved itself to be a friendly, feel-good festival and we can’t wait until next year – keep an eye out for dates on the event’s website: defenderjam.co.uk
