ABOUT LRON
With over 100 members, LRON started out in 2015 and is a family of like-minded people that enjoy nature, support conservation efforts and love Land Rovers. They are associated to the world body Association for Land Rover Owner Clubs International and aim to create a platform from where Land Rover owners can arrange, connect, and utilise their vehicles.
They pride themselves on promoting a full calendar packed with family-fun entertainment, training days, charity events, technical forums and trips. They accommodate foreign-make vehicles under their Associate Membership programme, too, and these applications are apparently growing constantly.
LRON are also affiliated with The Motoring Club of Namibia (formally The Old Wheelers), which is all about the love of vintage vehicles, but it is also a clubhouse where you can enjoy the company of like-minded people over a plate of good food and a cold beer. Over the past year they’ve been busy building a national motoring museum, and it is due to be completed early next year. Steve Hirst, Chairman and Founder Member, has a Series II Station Wagon, which he’s owned for 33 years and traversed all of Southern Africa in, and he tells us that LRON will have a display at the museum so all Land Rover aficionados visiting his country must ensure they pop in and say hello (go to oldwheelers.com for more information).
