Devon and Cornwall 4x4 Response assisting NHS

-

DEVON and Cornwall 4x4 Response Group, a registered charity (No 1154370) formed in 2009 is affiliated to the National 4x4 Response Network and aims to provide logistical support for the emergency services in times of need, and if ever there was a time when members were needed to volunteer their time and vehicles it’s now! Ocean Healthcare Complex Care needed to get urgent personal protective equipment (PPE) gear to care for babies, children and younger people all of whom have complex life-long and in some cases profound, life-limiting medical care needs, which makes them highly vulnerable to infections and other complications. With the threat of coronavirus, their team of carers had to increase protection to a much higher level and with PPE scarce across the UK, they requested supplies of surgical and specialist masks. This is when Devon and Cornwall 4x4 Responders stepped in to assist by collecting and delivering responders’ units. The group, which has over 80 members across the two counties, have also been working with the Local Resilience Forums to provide logistical support where needed. This has included collecting donated PPE which is either surplus to or no longer needed by local businesses, such as tattoo parlours and vets, and delivering to NHS stores. If any other 4x4 or Land Rover club out there has been helping to stop the spread of coronavirus we would love to hear from you. Email your pictures and story to patrick@lrm.co.uk.
