More Highland adventures…
The Solway Coast:
Offers some stunning drives and great pubs plus the beaches are wonderful. Plenty of campsites and wild camping is possible with care. The new SW Coast 300 offers a good entry point to exploring the region.
Ardnamurchan Peninsula:
A less-travelled option with miles of single track roads and plenty of options for wild camping plus a couple of organised sites. Easily reached via the Coren Ferry close to Fort William.
Assynt:
Wild and remote with stunning mountain scenery. Beachside campsites and wonderful views out to the Summer Isles. You can wild camp at Sandwood Bay but have to walk in from the car park.
Skye:
Still a great destination despite over-tourism at hotspots such as the Fairy Pools. Travel off-peak and you can still enjoy these iconic landscapes. I recommend arriving via the old-school style car ferry at Glenelg and there are some great wonderful campsites such as Glen Brittle.
The Hebrides:
Hard to beat for that edge of the world experience, fantastic beaches and some great drives. Wild camp with care or stay at one of the many sites such as Horgabost on the west coast of Harris.
