Where is it now?
LGN 952K – a Series III LWB station wagon with safari padding – was a year old when it was bought by my parents, who kept it for about 25 to 30 years. They took a family of six of us camping across Europe every summer, getting as far as Morocco and Greece. In the spring it transported many beehives across Kent and Sussex for pollinating apple orchards, including one hive that fell open in the back while driving along Tunbridge Wells High Street – you couldn’t see out of the back window for the swarm of bees crawling up it.
I think it’s still going strong. DVLA shows it as being green (it was a sandy colour when we had it) and re-taxed in August this year. I attach a photo, taken in Spain in the 1970s.
