Land Rover Series One Club
SCOPE: A club for all enthusiasts of the original Land Rover, the Series I, built between 1948 and 1958. The club has a network of Area Representatives, not only in the UK but around the world, an extremely active forum at lrsoc.com, where answers to anything Series I-related can be found, along with an extensive archive of articles and documents, and the Club Shop carrying a vast range of parts, many of which have been remanufactured by the club as items became unobtainable.
FOUNDED: The Land Rover Series One Club was formed in 1979 by three enthusiasts who saw a need for an organisation to cater for those interested in early Land Rovers.
In its infancy, the original founding members met at the Volunteer Inn in Seavington St Michael, Somerset, and published four newsletters a year using a typewriter and duplex machine, hand-filling envelopes. The club is now the largest Land Rover club in the world with over 3000 members and continues to go from strength to strength. NEWSLETTER: Members receive six
editions per year of the club magazine, Legend, which is packed with event reports, technical advice, historical articles and much more.
WEBSITE: lrsoc.com plus Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. MEMBERSHIP: Over 3000 members worldwide, including some that don’t actually own a Series I, but love them all the same!
ACTIVITIES: The club attends many shows and events in the UK and overseas. Area Representatives also organise regular local events (pub meets, greenlane runs, etc) and attend local shows. There’s also an annual International Rally (members only) which moves location around the UK.
