Out and about again
SUMMER is upon us, the birds are singing and the sun is sometimes shining. All of these things just seem to collectively lift the spirits of the nation. As does the ability to legally have a pint with your mates, meet up with your family or have a haircut done by a professional. I’ve saved thousands in haircuts since my mid-twenties due to good old male baldness. And with those savings (plus a few more pounds) I’ve been able to buy a Defender – I know which I’d rather have!
Despite the fact that it’s still a few days away until restrictions lift, my Defender is already packed for a camping trip with some of my Land Rover mates. We’ve all waited for this moment for months. It’s fair to say we have had enough time to prepare and exchange menu ideas for the weekend. I won’t bore you with those details.
Travel like we once knew however might never return. Last year we launched our Drive 25 campaign in association with Heritage, the specialist and classic car insurers. It was all about bucket list drives for you to do in your Land Rover, but as the UK slowly emerges from lockdown, we have decided to do things a little differently this year. Our annual Drive 25 campaign still continues in association with Heritage Insurance but now the focus is on you, the Land Rover owner and enthusiast. Turn to page 34 to see the first of four 2021 Drive 25 instalments. There has been much talk about Land Rover shows and when or if they will be happen again. LRM continues to throw our weight behind the Arrowsmith family and the real Billing Off Road Show which is the last weekend in June. Unfortunately camping tickets are all sold out.
