ULTIMATE FIRE BOWL

PRICE: £279.99* CONTACT: pursuitworldwide.com

MANY of you might have seen Pursuit Worldwide’s Ultimate Fire Bowl at the Billing Off Road Show or the Adventure Overland Show last summer. You probably said to yourself, ‘I like the look of that’. It’s made from 4 mm-thick stainless steel and looks like it will last a lifetime. Then you saw the price and walked on. Yes, it is expensive, but if looked after will provide you with years and years of simple, happy off-the-ground fire pits or BBQS. Better than buying 50 disposable BBQS in that time.

The Ultimate Fire Bowl has several things in its favour. For starters, it comes in a black heavy-duty carry bag, so once it is cooled down after use, it is zipped away and won’t dirty anything else during transportation. One word of warning: I fancy myself as fairly strong, but you’re sure to feel the weight of this solid bowl if carrying it a few miles down to the beach. At 12 kg it’s not light.

Set-up takes seconds – the longest part is getting it all out of the bag. Slot the two legs into each other, place them on a flat piece of ground, slap the bowl onto the legs and you’re good to go. No tools required.

I found that if you are on uneven ground you can move the bowl so that it is flat even if the legs are not. I’ve used the bowl about 10 times now and was a little worried that the outside of the bowl was turning a light shade of brown. I was told this is a totally normal material reaction to the heat and it definitely wasn’t rust.

The BBQ grill section is made from 316 L stainless steel and it too fits inside the carry bag with everything else. Its simple design means it fits neatly over the 500 mm diameter bowl. Just put it on and cook away. Once you are done cooking, take off the grill using the supplied leather gloves, throw on some logs and you have a fire bowl again. Cleaning the grill is easy, just use some steel wool and water and you will have it looking like new again in no time.

The ability to make an off-the-ground fire is a must-have for the modern-day camper. The Ultimate Fire Bowl offers you exactly that.

*Note: Stainless-steel grill that enables you to use the bowl as a BBQ is an extra £119.
