IN years gone by I remember snapping the plastic latches on my storage boxes while on expeditions. This was normally followed by a torrent of expletives at the manufacturers thousands of miles away. The lids of these storage boxes would also sometimes crack or break. A right old pain in the butt. So I began to take spare plastic latches along, at least until I got the new Wolf Pack Pro by Front Runner. I think the guys there must have heard my tirades.

The stackable Wolf Pack Pro is just next level when it comes to storage boxes. For starters, it seals properly: no dust or water will come into the box if properly closed. Then the heavy-duty latches won’t break or come loose. In fact, sometimes they can be a little tough to open, but you soon learn the knack of applying a bit of pressure on the bit of the lid next to the latch and it opens easily.

Carrying the closed box is a cinch thanks to the integrated grips, and can carry a few at a time if stacked. Plus, they don’t have to be stored inside your vehicle or a Front Runner Transit Bag – I simply use some tie-downs to secure the box on my roof rack. Dedicated spacers and tie-downs for the Wolf Pack Pro are available but aren’t cheap.

One thing I would recommend is that if you are going to transport something breakable or fragile in the box, then wrap it in some sort of padding.

The Wolf Pack Pro is made from a very durable high-density polyethylene black plastic and weighs 3.65 kg when empty. If looked after it should last much longer than a traditional-style storage box.
