Gardeners across Scotland raise money for a range of good causes by opening their gates through open garden charity Scotland’s Gardens. One participant is Drum Castle, 10 miles west of Aberdeen. This garden welcomes visitors to explore areas including a wildlife meadow, bog garden and cutting garden. It is one of 500 venues, from historic houses to private hideaways, which are participating in the scheme this year. Full listings, including open dates, admission costs, nominated charities and directions, can be found in the charity’s 2017 guide book. Scotland’s Gardens guide £5, www.scotlandsgardens.org
