Decorations to cherish
Scraps of vintage fabric are used to make seasonal decorations that will be treasured for years to come
AS DAYS BEGIN to shorten, and the air becomes colder and crisper, thoughts turn to precious time spent indoors with family and friends by the fireside, and making preparations for the season to come.
Much-loved festive decorations that have been left worn after years of use do not have to be replaced by shop-bought alternatives. Old decorations can be renewed or new ones made, using a few simple materials found around the home.
Scraps of luxurious fabric from salvaged curtains and upholstery or items of clothing can all be used to make pretty fairy dresses, adorn worn glass baubles or to create a textured surface on seasonal wreaths.
The decorations will be unique and personal, and have the potential to become cherished family heirlooms, passed down through the generations.
