HOW TO PLANT A LATE AUTUMN CONTAINER

-

Step 1: The bottom of a copper pot is filled with gravel to aid drainage. A large pot, with a wider base, is ideal, as this is less likely to blow over during windy weather.

Step 2: The pot is filled with compost to approximately two thirds the way up, ensuring that it is packed around the edges of the container.

Step 3: Pyracantha is planted at the back of the container first, followed by gaultheria at the front. Trailing ivy and erica are placed either side and allowed to cascade over the container rim. Finally, cyclamen is planted in the centre for contrast. The pot is topped up with compost.
