BRIGHTENING UP A BEDSIDE LIGHT

A fabric-covered lampshade illuminated from within creates a gentle glow for night-time reading

-

USING JUST A simple craft kit and a length of chosen fabric, a pretty lampshade is made to complement a room. These instructions are for a simple bedside light, but braid or fringing can be added to give it a more luxurious look.

A long fat quarter of material, measuring 10in by 44in (25 x 112cm) and cut using the full width of the bolt, best suits this project. As long as the material is the correct size to cover the frame adequately, the colour and pattern are a matter of choice.

Alternatively, rather than buying a kit, an old or unwanted shade, perhaps found in a charity shop, could be repurposed.

The instructions are quick and simple to follow, and will result in a delightful addition to the home.
