Man avoids injury as car falls down a cliff
ALL three emergency services were called to reports of a car down a cliff at a Staffordshire Moorlands beauty spot on Sunday.
One fire crew from Leek, West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Police were called to the incident at Wetton Mill Road, near to Swainsley Tunnel at 4.50pm.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 4.50pm to Wetton Mill Road to reports of a car down a cliff. We sent one ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene. A man in his 50s was treated at the scene, but avoided suffering serious injuries. He was taken to the Royal Stoke University for further treatment.”
A spokeswoman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “One crew from Leek attended, but no one required to be rescued.”
■ ON TUESDAY, September 11 at 4.44pm fire crews from Leek and Ipstones were called to a tumble dryer fire giving off toxic fumes at Whiston Hall Golf Club in Black Lane.
A spokeswoman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The incident involved flames coming out of a tumble dryer at the rear of the property giving out toxic fumes. The property was evacuated.
“Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire.”
Crews left the scene at 6.05pm. The cause of the fire was accidental.
