More than £8k raised after Sean’s life-changing injuries

-

A YOUNG motocross rider has suffered a life changing injury when he came off his bike at the annual Longnor Races earlier this month.

Sean Vose 29, was airlifted to hospital from the scene with a back injury.

Now his motocross colleagues have started a fundraising campaign after it was confirmed that he has fractured and dislocated his spine, severing his spinal cord.

Appealing for donations on a gofundme page his colleagues said: “Sean is a lovely lad and a very talented motocross rider, he came back at the start of this year and came third in the AMCA Northern Area Expert championships.

“He has a gorgeous five-year-old boy and a beautiful girlfriend. Sean and his family work incredibly hard so they can enjoy there motocross passion and spend time with their family.

“On September 6 he suffered a life changing injury. Sean came off his bike at speed and landed in a ditch at the side of the track.

“Sean was very dazed and confused but instantly it was clear he had suffered a significant injury. He was airlifted to hospital and the news we received later that night shocked our community.

“He was immediately taken down for surgery where they confirmed Sean had fractured and dislocated his spine, severing his spinal cord. This has paralysed him from the chest down and he will spend the rest of his life using a wheel chair.

“Life for Sean and his family is never going to be the same. We, the motocross community, would like to help ease the financial burden this will have on Sean and his family during this extremely difficult time.

“The money we raise will go towards Sean’s care, rehabilitation, equipment and modification of his home to ensure once he is able to return home it is fit for his needs. Please donate and support Sean and his family in any way you can.”

At the time of going to press, more than £8,000 had been raised in just a few days. To donate go to gofundme.com/63h32g0.
