Carr bags a hat-trick as United beat their local rivals Town

CHEADLE United came out on top in their derby encounter against Cheadle Town at Thorley Drive in the POTTERIES LEAGUE Division One.

Ben Carr was the goal hero for United, scoring a hattrick to keep them in second spot behind Chesterton. AFC Moorlands began their season with a 5-1 away win at FC Clayton. Jonathan Glassy (2), Josh Graham, Adam Kent and Luke Hopkins were their scorers. Chesterton AFC also got off to a winning start with a 3-1 win at Silverdale Athletic. Blythe Bridge outfit Black Cock made it two out of two to take an early lead at the top of the PDSL/CITY Traders League Division Two.

A 5-2 home win over Windmill Werrington keeps their noses out in front of Social Services and Holditch Club who have also won their opening two games. Jack Kinsey and Dom Simpson scored two apiece for Black Cock, with Dan Conway scoring the other. Fulford United picked up their first points of the season with a 3-1 home win over AFC Click.

Jim Davies, Chris Bevans and Daniel Salmon scored for Fulford, while Moorcroft United were 3-2 winners at home to Red Lion.

Taylor Wilcox were on the scoresheet for Moorcroft, with Leyton Jones and Scott Weston replying for Lion. Into the Premier Division where Staffordsh­ire Knot have taken over at the top of the table with an 11-1 home win over AFC Trent Tavern. Sean Mountford and Mike Keates both netted a hattrick, with the other goals coming from Oli Putman

(2), James Spencer, Kris Harrison and Matt Swift. Josh Oultram scored for Tavern in the first half, but they were over-run in the second period.

Greenhoff’s dropped to second spot following their 1-1 home draw with Butchers Arms.

Jake Langridge gave Greenhoff’s a 1-0 lead at half-time, but Nathan Calvert secured a point for Forsbrook-based Butchers Arms with the equaliser. Goals from James Beaman and Mark Mckenzie earned Adderley Green a 2-1 home win over Loggerhead­s (Nick Jones), while Sneyd were 5-2 winners at The Plough Bignall End.
