Promotion and the title for Cheadle

-

CHEADLE booked their place in the NSSCL Premier Division next season - and also tasted title success.

Craig Smith’s side needed just two points from their game against Weston to ensure they finished in the top two.

And helped by Garry Park’s 6-29, they not only achieved that mission, but also finished top of the NSSCL Division One table.

Weston were bowled out for 129 before Cheadle replied with 70-3 ahead of the rain arriving.

That means Cheadle will be playing at the top level of local cricket for the first time since 2012 when next year’s action gets underway.

Caverswall wrapped up their Division One campaign with an 80-run victory over Little Stoke.

In the Premier Division, Leek saw their game at Stone SP abandoned with the home side on 85-2.

Ashcombe Park had the better of their draw at Longton.

Ashcombe Park rattled up 201-5 declared, with

Adam Wilson striking a century, before Longton were restricted to 171-8 in reply.

Blythe posted 113-7 at Checkley, who were 75-4 after a significant rain delay.

Bagnall Norton made it 20 wins out of 22 games by beating Stafford in NSSCL Division Two, while Meir

Heath were 114-4 when their home game with Alsager fell victim to the weather.

In Division Three, Oakamoor were grateful for the rain as they were struggling on 35-8 at home against promoted Kidsgrove.

Checkley seconds lost at Rode Park & Lawton, but champions Endon rounded off their season with a win.

They amassed 238-4 against Crewe, who were bowled out for 167 after tea.
