A VEHICLE has been broken into at Ilam.

Between 3pm and 6pm on Wednesday, June 24, a vehicle was broken into while left unattended on Dovedale car park, Ilam.

A laptop, mobile telephone and headphones were stolen.

Police are urging motorists not leave valuables, not even if they are hidden in vehicles.

▶ A lady had her purse stolen from her handbag while out shopping on Wednesday, June 24 in Biddulph town centre. Her bank card has then been used at various locations. Police are asking local residents to be extra vigilant with your belongings and aware of your surroundin­gs.

▶ Action Fraud has received more than 2,600 reports about emails purporting to be from British Gas. The emails threaten to disconnect the recipient’s gas service if an outstandin­g bill is not paid.

The links in the emails lead to genuine-looking phishing websites that are designed to steal personal and financial details.

Your bank, or any other official organisati­on, won’t ask you to share personal informatio­n over email or text. If you need to check that it’s a genuine message, call them directly using a trusted phone number you already have from previous correspond­ence.
