Leek Post & Times

Alexander Gould

- Sergeant, Leek Police

IT’S BEEN a few months since my last newsletter and it is safe to say that a lot has gone on and changed in that time.

Covid-19 has brought us some new challenges. I hope everybody has been keeping safe and is continuing to do so as lockdown restrictions ease. I am proud to say that the people of Leek and surrounding communities have played their part in preventing the spread of the virus and there’s only a very small minority breaching the regulations.

Policing has changed as a result of Covid-19, but don’t worry, we are still here 24/7, 365 days a year should you ever need us.

Did you know that you can now contact Staffordshire Police via

Twitter and Facebook? If you use these social media platforms then have a look. It can sometimes be quicker than calling the control room on the phone. We also have our own Staffordshire Moorlands Twitter and Facebook pages – why not give us a follow and you can see all the latest news on what is going on with policing in your area?

Since my last newsletter we have had some movement of staff. Most of you will know PCSO Demi Clark who covers the Leek rural area which includes Longsdon, Endon and Brown Edge. Demi is moving on and joining as a Police Constable elsewhere in the force, so we wish her well and hope to see her back policing the Moorlands again soon.

Replacing Demi is PCSO Laura

Peacock. Laura is moving to the Leek rural area from Cheadle and will be a welcome addition to the team. You will see Laura out and about patrolling soon, so say hello and help her settle in.

We have also had another officer join the team for Leek this being PCSO Liam Warrilow. Liam is a young and enthusiastic officer and is still training, but he’s working towards patrolling on his own very soon. Liam will take over supporting Pub Watch scheme in Leek working with licencees to keep Leek town a safe and enjoyable place to visit, work and live – so a warm welcome to Liam.

We have seen an overall reduction in crime in recent months, but we know that crime does not sleep and

I remain passionate about tackling local problems and proactively preventing and detecting crime. If you ever wish to report something to us you can and remain anonymous via the methods I spoke about earlier or via the national Crimestoppers website.

I know that several local events such as Scooter Fest, Party in the Park, Endon Well Dressing and Leek Show have all had to be cancelled which is a huge shame, but done for obvious reasons. I hope that as we move out of this pandemic local shows can start to go ahead again and we can engage with them all.

I will leave you with that for now, stay in touch and I and my team hope to see you all soon.
