‘Surely there should have been a solution to Covid by now?’

-

MR JOHN Emery, in reply to your letter in last week’s Post & Times, well I’m neither irresponsible or health-oblivious and contrary to what you say I have never been abroad and even rarely go out of Leek these days so I’d imagine I’m a low risk to anyone re: the virus.

I do wear a mask in shops etc, yes I don’t like it but who does?

But this whole virus issue could and should have been sorted out months ago and it’s all because the wrong advice has been given (and in the UK this results to several times at least).

Therefore the PM has taken that advice every time and it’s been tragic in many ways.

Like you say, jobs will be lost and businesses will go under of which hundreds of thousands have done up to now.

But if this happens to such an extent and on a grand scale then the whole economy and country could collapse completely – then where will be all be?

Of course I despair and sympathise with all those families of all the people who have died so far in the UK, and well over a million worldwide too.

God knows what the answer is, but it beggars belief that we can send cameras and satellites up to Mars, Venus and god knows where and have mobile phones that can do almost everything for us now and yet they can’t sort out a new virus.

And with all the technology now at our scientists’ disposal, surely there should have been a solution by now?

I, same as you, want to see it gone and gone for good – everyone does who has any sense anyway.

You sound an intelligent man Mr Emery going by your letter and its content but I think you have to agree Boris Johnson and his cabinet did not act soon enough in January or even last year and have made far too many errors up to now.

And how can you have a health secretary in Matt Hancock who knows nothing about health, when he was in banking before all this and before he became a cabinet minister?
