A DOZEN Staffordshire Moorlands pubs have been listed in the latest edition of a popular beer guide.

This week, the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) published the 2021 edition of the Good Beer Guide – which lists CAMRA members’ favourite pubs and breweries across the UK.

Four of the pubs are in Leek – the Roebuck, Fountain Inn, Blue Mugge and Wilkes Head.

Cheadle also has two pubs in the guide – the Bird in Hand the Huntsman.

The remaining six were in villages throughout the district.

Two pubs called the Black Lion made the list – in Cheddleton and Consall Forge.

Elsewhere the pubs that made the guide were the Talbot in Alton, the Crossways Micropub in Blythe Bridge, the Yew Tree Inn in Cauldon and the Swan in Whiston.

Breweries in the Staffordshire Moorlands that made the guide were Consall Forge, Flash and Peakstones Rock in Alton.

Twelve pubs in the city are also listed in the Campaign for Real Ale’s Good Beer Guide 2021 – which was published this week.

Rob Ledgar and partner Debbie Clarke took over the Coachmakers Arms in November 2018.

Rob said: “I’m really pleased it is in the guide. When we took over the the pub wasn’t in the guide and we aimed to get it back in.

“It had been in for quite a few years before that.

“I’m really pleased local CAMRA members voted for us.”

The other venues in Hanley that made the list were Bottlecraft on Piccadilly, and the Victoria Lounge on Adventure Place.

Elsewhere in Stoke-on-trent two areas – Stoke and Hartshill – also had three entries each.

In Stoke the White Star, bod and London Road Ale House all made the list, while The Greyhound, Artisan Tap and Sanctuary made the list for Hartshill.

Elsewhere in the city, the Congress Inn in Longton, the Holy Inadequate in Etruria and the Bull’s Head in Burslem also made the list – with Bull’s Head making its 20th consecutive appearance in the guide.

A number of local breweries also made the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2021 – including Titanic, Inadequate, Six Towns and Front Row.

RAN Ales is also listed – although the Fenton-based brewery unfortunately announced it was closing late in September.

Six pubs in Newcastle have also been recognised.

The Bridge Street Ale House in the town centre is among the pubs to make the list.

Commenting online, they said: “A big thank you to all that have supported us over the last sixplus years and voted for us again.

“Seriously, I can’t describe how pleased I am.”

The Lymestone Vaults on Pepper Street is also on the list – along with its sister bar, the Borehole in Stone.

Lymestone Breweries, which operates both bars, said: “The UK Real Ale scene is highly competitive and for both to be selected again for publication is an honour and a welcome boost for staff morale.”
