GOALS FLOW IN THE LOCAL LEAGUES

- By Chris Travers sport@thepostandtimes.co.uk

IT’S a rare occurrence to see a team score 10 goals in a game, let alone a player.

But Jake Alcock did just that to keep Greenhoffs top of the Coors League Tile Central UK Premier Division on Sunday.

Alcock netted 10 times in his side’s 18-0 victory at Chesterton YC to keep them a point clear of the chasing pack.

His exploits dwarfed George Shaw’s hat-trick, while Jake Stribling (2), Liam Tomlin, Ash Stanyer and Callum Rowley were also on the goal trail on a remarkable morning.

Bignall End climbed up to third place thanks to a 4-1 win at Cheshire Cheese.

Gaz Whitmore scored for Cheese, but Jeff Jolley’s double, plus efforts from Jack Cotterill and Matt Heler, ensured that Bignall End chalked up a fifth straight win.

Halmerend ran out 7-4 winners on their trip to Eastwood Hanley.

Sol Soumare gave Eastwood the lead just minutes into his debut, but Halmerend soon moved through the gears to lead 4-1 before Gabriel Chimuzinga scored just before the break for the hosts.

Halmerend continued to keep their rivals at arm’s length as Harry Minshall bagged a brace with Louis Archer, Dan Taylor, Jimmy Duff and Callum Middleton all scoring.

Chimuzinga grabbed his second of the game for Eastwood and there was another debut goal for the home side through Joe Miles.

Cuckoo Albion produced an impressive display to win 4-2 at Men Unite.

Josh Clayton and Aaron Cooper put Cuckoo 2-0 up, but matters were levelled by Jordan Protheroe and Ash Colclough.

Shane Reaney converted a penalty to push Cuckoo back in front, before Jason Smith struck late on to cap off a fine win.

Kidsgrove Athletic Community banked their first victory of the campaign with a 1-0 win at Roebuck.

The decisive moment came early

in the piece when Josh Oultram capitalised on a defensive mix-up to head home.

Oultram could have added a second, but saw his spot-kick saved by the Roebuck keeper.

Ryan Griffin hit a hat-trick in Foley Meir’s 6-2 success at Shamblers.

John Birks added a double and Pete Williams was also on the scoresheet as Foley maintained their 100 per cent record to leave them just a point behind the leaders.

Lee Campbell and Danny Buxton replied for Shamblers.

Alex Campbell and Ben Matthews were also on the treble trail in FC Lambourne’s 9-1 Division One victory over Global Vision.

Campbell, Matthews and Dylan Bromley all scored twice in the opening 45 to put the game to bed.

Miles Eide grabbed a consolation for Global, but Campbell and Matthews completed their hat-tricks, before Ishmael Anderson made it nine.

Gary Barnes’ 30-yarder set Vale Hoppers on the road to a 3-1 home win against Railway Inn.

James Greener doubled the lead, but Andy Bell pulled one back just past the half-hour mark.

Joe Gosling had a goal disallowed for Vale Hopers, but the third did arrive when Matt Dale poked home.

Canal Tavern held off a Silverdale Vine comeback to win their meeting 3-2.

Rich Birkby (2) and Adam Burber left Canal Tavern 3-0 up at the break.

However, Brad Jenkins’ second-half double revived Vine, but they couldn’t force a leveller.

Jolly Carter and The Plough picked up a point apiece from a 2-2 draw.

Adam Coulson struck twice for the visitors, but goals from James and Michael Bladen ensured parity.

In Division Two, Birches Head won 6-3 at Halmerend CIC.

An early penalty from Kyle Cooke saw Halmerend go 1-0 up, but Chris Lockett soon levelled.

A deflected effort from a corner from

Harry Williams saw the hosts take the lead once more, but a jinking run and finish from Macauley Hall made it 2-2.

And the visitors surged into a twogoal lead just before half-time as Lockett grabbed his second and then a superb free-kick from John Baker left the score at 4-2.

Baker made it 5-2, only for Danny Meek to grab another goal back.

The game was killed off as a contest as away skipper Joe Cope slotted home from a right-wing cross.

A Jordan Hall hat-trick made all the difference for Redgate Clayton as they eased to a 5-3 victory over Brown Edge.

Mitch Haslam, Charlie Swift and Jake Brereton all scored for the visitors, but Redgate are up to fourth after Hall’s treble and further strikes from Joseph Burke and George Ellis.

AFC Moorlands made it back-toback wins with a 4-1 verdict at Royal Furlong.

Luke Hopkins, John Glasby, Adam Kent and Aaron Hall did the damage, with Ryan James replying.

Canal Tavern Kidsgrove stretched their lead to nine points with a 3-0 win at closest challengers White Hart VPR.

After an even first half-hour, the hosts were reduced to 10 men as Carl Mountford was dismissed - and the visitors took the lead through Dave Harry before the interval.

They doubled their lead just a few minutes later as Kieron Ball found the back of the net direct from a corner.

The game was over as a contest when Ball netted his second.

AFC Wulstan and Coach & Horses played out a 3-3 draw.

The first half was an even affair and visiting Coach & Horses took the lead when Harry Corbett-evans produced a fine finish from just outside the box.

The hosts were soon level, though, as Ryan Tinsley raced clear to loft a precise finish over the keeper.

Wulstan went ahead 10 minutes later when a shot towards goal struck a Coach defender which the referee gave as handball and skipper Adam Convey converted from 12 yards.

The visitors were level by the break, though, as a long clearance over the Wulstan defence led to a poor clearance and Reece Smith fired a superb strike past the keeper from distance for 2-2.

The second half saw the visitors come out stronger, but they were reduced to 10 men midway through the half.

This galvanised Coach and they took a deserved lead soon after when a delightful cross from Ryan Hassett to the far post was touched home by Corbett-evans for his second.

Wulstan wouldn’t give in, though, and Ben Ashton touched home a long throw in injury time to salvage a precious point.

Tam O’shanter and The Kiln drew 1-1. Christian Hale scored for Tam, with Ryan Grocott on target for the visitors.

In Division Three, Stoke Town won 5-1 at Bradwell.

James Nixon and Aaron Taft put them 2-0 up inside the opening 15 minutes, before Harry Lakin made it 3-0 at halftime.

Dave Elms scored for Bradwell in the 85th minute, but two quick goals from Will Bossons and Ash Courtman put paid to any hopes of a fightback.

Tim Bowyer scored twice as Park Inn claimed their first win with a 5-0 victory at Congleton Town Academy.

Dec Wooton, Sam Morrey and a header from Aaron Linnell completed the scoring.

Morgan Bratt scored five times in The Wharf’s 9-3 success at Marquis of Granby.

Ross Robson’s double and a Matt Pattinson goal proved to be mere consolations for the home side.

New Penny edged out Breaks Athletic 2-1 in their meeting.

New Penny’s breakthrough came on 37 minutes as full-back Simon BarkerGreen swung in a superb cross that Lewis Edge finished well.

Breaks started the second half on a much more positive note, but they fell 2-0 behind on the hour when substitute Matt Hodson notched.

Breaks struck back within seven minutes as Ryan Heery got to a rebound, but that was the end of the scoring.

Division Four leaders Jollees suffered a shock 3-1 home defeat by Wolstanton High Street.

Jack Cave scored for the hosts, but the visitors ran out winners thanks to goals by Danny Harrop, Darryl Heath and Gary Gibson.

Holditch Miners have moved level with Jollees after a 6-2 win at Burslem United.

Callum Rogers and Spencer Ashby scored for the hosts, but they were outgunned by a rampant Holditch attack.

Dec Sargeant scored twice with Tom Lowe, Connor Hulson, Will Stokes and Josh Kenny all on target.

Roaring Meg were 6-2 winners at Staffordshire Victoria.

Vics took an early lead via an own goal by Tom Baskeyfield, but then Meg moved into top gear and stretched into a 6-1 lead thanks to two goals apiece from Craig Tristram and Josh Howell with Luke Bloor and Harry Simon also on target.

Player-manager Ben Cook stepped off the bench to convert a late penalty for the hosts to reduce the arrears to 6-2.

White Hart bounced back from four straight defeats to beat FC Robin Hood 4-1.

A brace from Jordan Holland put them in control with Ryan Jackson also scoring while the hosts also benefitted from an own goal.

Joe Baddeley scored a consolation for Robin Hood and they stay in the bottom two.
