Acclaimed artists turns paintings into NSPCC cards

-

AN artist has turned his paintings into cards exclusively for a children’s charity.

Rob Pointon, the celebrated international artist originally from Blythe Bridge, has made four of his paintings into cards for the NSPCC – exclusive to the Cheadle and Leek area.

They are blank inside so could be used for Christmas or other greetings.

They are approximately six inches square, in nice quality card, and have biodegradable cellophane sleeves.

The paintings show four very different aspects – one is a local winter scene at the canal in Rode Heath, another is of Rob’s wife and baby.

Also in the pack is the carousel at the German Market in Birmingham, and the Gala Dinner at the Painted Hall in Greenwich.

They are just £1.50 each, or £5 for a pack of four. And as Rob and his wife have covered all costs, every penny they make will go to the NSPCC and Childline.

Sue Wardle, the local NSPCC chair, said: “Fundraising is so difficult at the moment because of the Covid restrictions, and we cannot hold our annual coffee morning or a card event.

“However, vulnerable and abused children continue to struggle and need the support of the NSPCC. “After Rob’s generous offer, I was thrilled when the cards arrived.

“They are unique to us in the local NSPCC fundraising group and are excellent examples of his artistic talent. These cards can’t be bought anywhere else.

“If anyone would like to purchase some through me (or a member of Leek committee), I could deliver them (safely) or post if you add £1 per pack for postage.

“Payment can be by cheque to NSPCC (Leek), cash or by internet banking.

“The people of the Staffordshire Moorlands have always been very generous in their support of the Nspcc/childline, and Carole House – our local children’s centre.

“I’m hoping that we can sell more before Christmas so that we can make a sizeable donation to Childline, which will continue working all through the Christmas period with children for whom the festive season can be a real struggle.”

Sue’s address is Wildacres, Consall, Staffs, ST9 0BE, and she can be contacted on 01782 550258 to place an order.
