AN OUTDOOR pantomime and an illuminated garden walk are among the highlights awaiting visitors to Alton Towers this Christmas.

The resort is inviting visitors to take a ‘truly spellbinding’ starlit stroll through ‘some of the most beloved and magical fairytales of all time’ when it opens the gardens from this weekend.

Robin Hood will also do battle with the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham four times a day when the resort’s panto takes centre stage in Fountain Square.

A selection of family-friendly rides will also be operating, with stalls offering snacks and refreshments. And Santa will be in his grotto, ready to greet youngsters with a gift.

The resort launches its Christmas events this weekend. They run on selected days in December under tier three guidelines with strict Covidsecure measures in place. It is asking people from out of the area not to visit.

A spokesman said: “Alton Towers is a Covid-secure venue and your safety is our top priority, so we have worked closely with our local public health team to ensure our Festive Day Out event complies with the latest Government guidance and the rules for a Tier 3 area. Attractions and entertainment are subject to change if the Government guidelines change.”

Tickets cost £24 for adults and from £15 for children, which includes a visit to Santa.

Most of the events, such as the illuminated garden walk, are outdoors – so be sure to wrap up warm or bring a blanket.

Guests are asked to book in groups of six or fewer, wear facemasks in indoor areas and remain with their household at the resort.

Alton Towers will be open between 11am and 8pm. Parking is free. For more details vist altontowers.com.
