An investigation by the Post× using Freedom of Information powers found 30,893 motorists fell foul of the sometimes sneakily deployed mobile camera units.

The information divulged covers the period between September 2019 and September 2020.

An A50 location near Uttoxeter caught by far the most speeding motorists, snaring 3,095 drivers.

And in Longton, between the A50 and A500 where the speed limit is 50mph, a further 1,081 drivers were clocked breaking the speed limit and issued fines or Notice of Intended Prosecutions (NIPS).
