Shop windows decorated with messages of thanks

Owner of Just Add Chalk helps to spread festive cheer

BUSINESSES in Leek have chalked up a new idea to say thank you to people who have supported them over a difficult year.

Amanda Holdcroft, owner of ‘Just Add Chalk’ has helped the town’s businesses to say ‘Thank You’ to their customers for all their support during these unprecedented times.

The idea was born when Amanda noticed how many people were walking through Leek window shopping while in lockdown during November.

She thought how nice it would be if people could stop and read a nice message from the business to say thank you for your support.

Charlotte Day, from Lion House Tearooms, was the first business to have her window chalked with her festive message, closely followed by Sarah Paterson-white, from The Alphabet Store.

Sarah said: “This just snowballed with 32 Leek businesses having a festive message chalked on their windows.

“Amanda also sponsored a Thank You board that Leek business owners used to take a picture of themselves outside their premises to again send a message of thanks to the local community for the love and support that they have shown since March this year.

“Without this support, businesses may not have survived.

“This collaboration between Just Add Chalk and the Leek Independents has supported Amanda at a time when many weddings that she should have produced signage for were either cancelled or put on hold.

“A real feelgood story with a happy ending, once again showing what great community spirit there is in Leek.”
