Quiz to help footballer Jakob achieve American dreams...

-

THE family of a young Leek footballer are inviting people to join them for a fundraising speed quiz.

The online event is being run by Emma Priestman to support her son’s soccer scholarship in America on Friday, March 5.

Jakob Priestman, aged 19, is presently studying for the soccer scholarship at Missouri State University.

Emma said: “Jakob had a once in a lifetime opportunity and a dream come true of being offered a four year soccer scholarship out in America at Missouri State University, a top Division 1 school.

“While playing high level football he will also study a degree program.

“Jakob has always played football since he was a little boy, it’s all he’s ever wanted to do. From six years of age he started his football career with Crewe Alexandra FC, and was offered a scholarship with them from 16-18 years of age, this sadly came to an end in May 2020.

“Jake’s had a few tough years as his dad was diagnosed with lung cancer while study for his GCSES.

“He worked so hard and passed them all with good grades, followed by a Btec in Sport where he achieved a Distinction.

“We really want to help now in his new chapter, he really does deserve it.

“We need to raise as much money as we can to help towards his study, accommodation, insurance, books and learning materials and any extra kit required for the four years that he is in America.

“Your support would be so gratefully received and appreciated.”

The online speed quiz event takes place at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 donation per team/ quizzing device.

A raffle will also be held where some local Leek businesses have donated prizes.
