Endon maintain perfect start to new campaign

-

ENDON made it two wins out of two in in NSSCL Division One with victory over Leycett.

Alex Bailey’s 30 was the principal contribution to Endon’s 157 all out, in which Andrew Cooper snared 3-41 and there were double strikes from Dan Redfern and Chris Sheperd.

Dave Griffiths and Sheperd made 30 apiece in reply as Leycett reached 95-2 and victory was on the cards.

But they then subsided to 130 all out as Josh Reynolds and Harvey Ault scooped 3-15 and 3-20 respectively.

Sandyford fought to the finish to pull off a three-wicket win at Wood Lane.

The visitors were set 228 to win, but for decent periods looked like their brave bid would fall short.

They slipped to 37-3, and despite skipper Jonathan Barnett making 40, at 152-7 it appeared as though Wood Lane would be the ones celebrating.

However, Yasir Ali (40no) and Muhammad Naveed (34no) proved to be a winning combination as they guided Sandyford to their target with four balls of their 45 overs to spare.

Omar Ali picked up 3-24 for the home side having earlier made 43 not out in Wood Lane’s 227-4.

However, the architects of that big score were Danny Brierley and Jake Thompson, who put together a second-wicket stand of 127.

Brierley finished on 76, with Thompson not far behind on 68. Yasir Ali took a couple of wickets before becoming the match-winning batting hero.

Elworth are top of the pile as they recorded a seven-wicket triumph at Blythe.

Blythe wn the toss and elected to bat, but didn’t make the most of that decision as they crumbled to 67 all out.

Tristan Elam (15) was one of only three batsmen to make double figures.

Ben Holt was the chief destroyer, taking

5-24, ably backed up Chris Winter’s spin, which yielded 3-4.

Prince Singh replied with a couple of victims of his own, but 21 apiece from Ash Rogers and Chris Regan soon had Elworth celebrating an easy success.

Audley piled up the runs in their home victory over Newcastle & Hartshill.

Jack Redman’s 96, containing nine fours, navigated their progress to 262-9 from 45 overs. Former Warwickshire man Recordo Gordon weighed in with 47, while there were two wickets apiece for Rich Hagan, Oliver Tucker and Mo Abid.

Asif Raza (64) and Hagan (32) fronted the Castle response, but the run-rate was always out of reach and they were eventually bowled out for 190.

Logan Hughes took the bowling plaudits with 3-51, with doubles coming from Gordon, Rob Hemmings and Richard Holloway.

Knypersley secured an excellent victory at Eccleshall.

An opening stand of 153 between Myles Coughlan and Ahsan Tariq paved the way for Eccleshall to rack up 259-7.

Coughlan struck 79 and Tariq added 73 before Scott Winnington (41) and Uzzair Shah (32) kept their feet to the floor.

Asad Afridi and Arsalan Arshad Mir claimed 4-58 and 3-55 respectively.

Knypersley were then set a reduced target of 207 because of rain and managed to reach it for the loss of two wickets.

Opener Louis Washington anchored matters with 75, Sam Wilcox contributed 52 and Mir ended on 63 not out to complete an excellent triumph.
