Tennis teams mark a return to league action with ‘club derby’

-

THE rainy weather hasn’t stopped Leek Tennis Club continuing full swing with their activities, with coaching sessions and Cardio Tennis well under way and an exciting addition to the club’s offering.

This week also saw a return to league action following the cancellation of the 2020 season and a club ‘derby’ to get the season underway.

The club has worked hard to offer opportunities for the community to use the facilities alongside members.

The latest addition to the club is a state-of-the-art gate access system which allows nonmembers to book a court and access it simply using a one-time code which is generated when booking.

Booking online is easy; just visit www.clubspark.lta.org. uk/leektennisclub, register and follow the simple steps from there.

The season started with a match between Leek Men’s A team and Leek Men’s B team, following Leek Men’s B’s promotion to Division 1 of the Staffordshire Inter-club Tennis League. Leek Men’s A came out victorious, 4-0, with all four matches being close contests. More league matches start next week, with Leek Ladies starting their season against Draycott Ladies on Tuesday (May 18).

The City and Suburban Tennis League gets underway on Wednesday (May 19), with Leek entering three teams for what is set to be an exciting upcoming season.
