Plain sailing as new coffee shop opens at beauty spot

-

A NEW coffee shop has opened in a picturesque Staffordshire Moorlands setting, writes LES JACKSON.

The Galley Coffee Shop is the business venture of Ian Lee and is located at Rudyard Sailing Club in Reacliffe Road, Rudyard.

Ian said: “The Galley Coffee Shop has indoor and outdoor areas that can seat 76 members of the public safely. We promise high quality barista coffees, speciality teas and cakes baked by our local team all served in a fantastic setting with panoramic views over the lake and the foothills of the Peak District beyond. Localism features in this new enterprise with as many links as possible to the community.

“This has to be one of the most picturesque places in North Staffordshire to come and relax with exquisite coffee, tea and cake, and a newspaper or magazine. For almost seventy years the Sailing club at Rudyard Lake has been a private members club. Now a new chapter has begun. We have toys for the children and have disabled access.

“I have worked in industry most of my life and I saw this opportunity when I took redundancy, so I decided to plough my redundancy into the new business. I live in Rudyard, so I can walk to work.

“So far it’s been getting busier and busier and the feedback from customers has been fantastic. The focus on local produce is striking a chord with people. The views for visitors are amazing.

“Come and see why this has been one of the best kept secrets in Rudyard for many years!”
