Quick fire Leek cruise to a 10 wicket triumph

LEEK experienced no nerves in their 10-wicket demolition of Meakins thirds in Division Five.

David Alcock captured 5-24 to rout Meakins for 112, despite Hasnain Mazhar making 39 not out.

Kieran Carr and Regan Clowes maintained the bowling pressure with two wickets each.

Leek required just 23.3 overs to complete their victory thanks to

Ollie Sutton and Dave Ratcliffe. Sutton hit six fours and one six in his 59 not out, with Ratcliffe unbeaten on 47 at the other end.

Alsager’s Richard Steel delivered a superb spell of bowling to secure his side an easy victory over Caverswall.

Caverswall were chasing what appeared to be a modest 134 for victory... but fell well short after Steel’s intervention.

Steel returned 7-5 to send Caverswall plummeting from 25-2 to 47 all out.

Kallum Crawford top-scored with 11 for a Caverswall side who would have been pretty happy with their position at the halfway stage.

Jamie Roberts’ 3-27, plus a couple of wickets apiece from Robert Ratcliffe and Evan Bradford, had dismissed Alsager for 133.

Khalid Yosofzai (35) and Oliver Jepson (21) fronted the Alsager run bid before Steel showed his mettle in the second half of the afternoon to earn them the spoils in devastating fashion.

Ashcombe Park pocketed a seven-wicket victory on their visit to Sandon.

Sandon couldn’t find their groove with the bat and posted a mere 68 all out.

Experienced duo Andy Wootton (18) and Steve Greatholder (17no) made the most headway for the home side.

Nick Goodwin’s 4-5 did the bulk of the damage, while there were two wickets each for Jacob Johnson and Lee Slater.

Ashcombe Park were never tested after the interval as Joe Thompson and Steve Proffitt both weighed in with 22 to steer the Moorlanders to their target in some comfort.
