Double delight for 2nd and 3rd teams

THERE was double delight for the Stafford sides in NSSCL Division Six at the weekend.

Both the seconds and thirds picked up convincing victories.

Stafford seconds saw Ali Siddiqi hit the ton trail in their crushing success at home against Moddershal­l & Oulton fifths.

Siddiqi required just 84 balls to amass 114 not out, hitting 11 fours and two sixes. He shared an unbroken thirdwicke­t stand of 170 wth Amol Karki, who made 60, as Stafford posted 250-2.

Mark Jones had earlier made 36, while Mat Jackson took both of the wickets to fall.

Stephen Powell (32) and David Tooth (28) impressed in the Modd men’s reply, but they were always on the back foot and were eventually bowled out for 118.

James Hughes helped himself to 3-45, with Yasir Siraj and Karki both chipping in with two victims.

Stafford thirds won by nine wickets at home to Wood Lane seconds.

Ian Wain (22), Andrew Norcup (18) and Steve Bradbury (15) were the only Wood Lane batsmen to get going in their 100 all out.

James Scerri (3-16) and double strikes from Oscar Bell and Nooh Salam did the damage

In reply, Andrew Fuller and Scerri both made 36 to power Stafford past the post.

Hanford seconds cruised to the points at home against Endon.

Usman Yaqub built a patient 68 to provide the platform for Kasim Ahmed (38) and Waqar Shabbir (34no) in Hanford’s 221-5.

Peter Slinn, who took two wickets, then compiled 37 not out, but Endon were skittled for 89.

Mohammad Asif took 3-4.

Oakamoor seconds won by four wickets at their Norton in Hales counterpar­ts.

Dan James’ 4-3, plus 3-31 from Harry Smith, ensured Norton in Hales were limited to 111 all out. Simon Belfield top-scored with 44.

Smith’s 41 and 22 not out from Andrew Booth soon had Oakamoor celebratin­g despite Matthew Lawrenson taking 3-45.
