Evergreen duo deliver the goods

-

EVERGREEN duo Richard Cooper and Nick Hunt set Checkley seconds on their way to a triumph at Cheadle in NSSCL Division Three.

Cooper’s 3-3 off eight overs, coupled with 3-12 from Hunt, saw Cheadle skittled for 90.

Cheadle looked as though they would be routed at one stage, slipping to 21-7, before Jack Winfield and William Riley made 21 and 20 respectively to temporarily stem the tide.

However, Checkley still achieved a five-wicket win as Ben Carrigan’s unbeaten 49 proved to be decisive, even though James Jackson and Winfield both claimed two wickets.

Stone SP turned in an emphatic display to win at home against Crewe.

Toby Hough’s 64, featuring five fours and three sixes, underpinned their 207 all out. The experienced Phil Cheadle added 45, while Sam Goodier (3-25) was the pick of the Crewe attack.

Goodier was also the star with the bat for Crewe, making 30, but aside from Ollie Jarvis’ 23, there was little else to shout about from a Crewe perspective.

They were out for 128 as William Alsbury helped himself to 4-34.

Moddershall & Oulton seconds won by four wickets at home against Wedgwood.

Matthew Wright’s 4-23 was integral to Wedgwood being limited to 112 all out, despite Paul Mason contributing 26.

Kieran Mckinney (3-12) threatened a Wedgwood fightback, but the cool head of Josh Renshaw (34no) saw the Modd men to the points.

Hanford inched home by one wicket at Eccleshall seconds.

Set 130 to win Faisal Mahmood (42) and Atique Khan (22) did just enough to see the visitors to the spoils.

Jonathan Brammall (3-18) and Jake Derry (3-22) did the damage with the ball for Eccleshall.

Earlier, Mahmood had captured 3-14 to restrict Eccleshall to 129-9. Connor Beasley top-scored with 37.
