Endon fail to recover from shock loss of early wickets

THE TOP two in division one met at Elworth but it was the home side who remained top of the table after a comfortabl­e eightwicke­t win over Endon.

Endon were soon in trouble and never really recovered from being 37-4 to limp along to 112 all out.

Wicketkeep­er Andrew Sibley with an unbeaten 24 and Kev Cockerton with 23 were the only ones to hang around. Steve Morgan took 4-23, Bent Holt 2-14 and James Holt 2-18 as Elworth turned the screw.

When Elworth batted, Ryan Sloan (30) and Edward Parrish (36) added 67 for the first wicket and they won the game at 114-2 with 21 overs remaining.

Hem Heath moved into second place level on points with Elworth with a 33-run victory at Eccleshall. Liam Banks contribute­d a quick fire 28 and Zephryn Hunte made 39 from 50 balls including five fours and a six as Hem Heath were all out for 172 from 39.3 overs. Fida Hussain took 4-17 and Scott Winnington 3-33.

Banks also starred in the field as Eccleshall made their reply, taking 2-18 and three catches as they were bowled out for 139. Nazakat Ali took 3-22. Winnington top scored with 37 with Myles Coughlan and Sohaib Shah adding 30 each.

Newcastle & Hartshill racked up 310-6 from their 45 overs against bottom of the table Little Stoke.

Andrew Whitehead hammered 99 from 84 balls including 13 fours and two sixes whilst Asif Raza made 85 from just 38 balls including eight fours and six sixes.

When Little Stoke batted Dissanagge Rathnayake clubbed an unbeaten 94 from 99 balls with twelve fours and a six and Karl Harvey made 58 and they made a respectabl­e 207-3 from their 45 overs. Little Stoke have now lost all seven of their league games so far.
