Heavy defeat for Checkley thirds

IN Division Seven, Audley thirds defeated their Checkley counterpar­ts by six wickets. William Shenton’s superb 5-6, plus 3-16 from Thomas Mason, left Checkley 58 all out. Gavin Carr made 13.

Thomas Boundy made 21 not out in reply to see Audley to the points.

Kidsgrove won by the same margin at home against Moddershal­l & Oulton sixths.

The Modd men were restricted to 112-8 as Jacob Mcintyre produced a fine spell of 5-8 from eight overs. Mick Walley made 35. Thomas Plant’s 38 soon had Grove celebratin­g victory.

In NSSCL Division Eight, Oakamoor thirds eased to the spoils at Church Eaton seconds,.

Dan Worthingto­n’s 120 not out, which featured 19 fours, plus 92 from Jonathan Wood - the pair put on 178 for the third wicket - guided Oakamoor to 247-3.

Church Eaton crumbled to 92 all out in reply - Rab Cooper making 17 - as Tom Gerrard scooped 4-14.

Cheadle thirds were also away-day winners, sealing an easy win at Stafford fourths.,

Joe Degg’s 50 was backed up by 46 from Scott Harvey and Matthew Degg’s 40 in Cheadle’s 185 all out. Eddie Singh took 3-44.

Graham Gillis (25) top-scored after tea, but Matthew Degg’s 3-11 ensured Stafford were bowled out for 87.

In Division Nine, Newcastle & Hartshill fourths were 10-wicket winners at Ashcombe Park thirds.

Guy Bridgett (4-16) and Zak Twist (3-9) shared seven wickets to leave Ashcombe Park 98 all out. Rob Goodwin struck 30.

Joe Thorne (56no) and Tom Brown (24no) completed the formalitie­s with a minimum of fuss.

Sandbach thirds won by 103 runs at Oakamoor fourths.

Joe Gibson’s 40 and Rob Badley’s 36 led Sandbach to 158 all out.

Jack Beresford then snared 5-12 and Richard Cotton grabbed 3-15 to skittle Oakamoor for 55. Charlie Allcock provided some resistance with 19.
