Clowes stars with bat and ball for Oakamoor’s derby win

OAKAMOOR were away-day winners on their NSSCL Division Two trip to Moorlands neighbours Caverswall. Will Leeson’s 50 was backed up by Johnathan Clowes’ 39 and 35 from Kris Heathcote as Oakamoor posted 197-7. Jake Edge scooped 3-33.

Edge top-scored with 28 in the Caverswall run chase, and although Elliot Wright added 22, the hosts were bowled out for 138.

Clowes and Jack Palmer claimed 3-21 and 3-23 respective­ly.

Rode Park & Lawton edged a thrilling contest at home against Stafford. The hosts had piled up an impressive 236-6 from their 40 overs, which was led by Richard Bebbington’s 59.

Bebbington hit eight fours and one six in his innings, with Martin Dawson (32) and Neil Cheadle (31no) providing support. Robert James claimed a couple of wickets. In reply, Anas Patel (57) and 27 apiece e from Dave Foster and James helped Stafford’s cause.

But it needed Joshua Williams’ 27ball 50 to give them a chance in the closing stages.

It wasn’t enough, though, as a couple of wickets apiece from Dawson and Jack Harrison saw Stafford end up just short on 2349.

The runs flowed at Sandbach where the home side saw off the challenge of Meir Heath.

Gareth Lennon compiled an excellent 119 not out to form the backbone of Sandbach’s 249-5 from their allocation.

Lennon struck 17 fours in his innings and found willing allies in Dane Tinsley (59) and Jack Kesteven (34). Anwar Hussain scooped 3-42.

Maz Akhtar (50), Oliver Edwards (49) and Zak Hill (45) led the Meir Heath reply.

But Ross Kesteven’s 4-41 and

3-49 from Jack kesteven saw Meir Heath bowled out for 232.

Bignall End were three-wicket winners at Silverdale.

Three wickers apiece from Adrian Lello Junior (3-12), Ahsam Zaroof (3-25) and Ali Azmat (3-31) limited Silverdale to 126-8. Alex Mcchristie top-scored with 35. Ethan Sherriff picked up 3-30 in reply, but an unbeaten 34 from Ali Ahmadzai ensured that Bignall End banked the points.

Norton in Hales eased to victory on their visit to Barlaston.

Jack Furnival’s 65, which featured six fours and three sixes, plus 34 from Appukuttig­e Perera, helped Norton in Hales to 206-8, John Aked claimed two wickets.

Leigh Matthews struck 22 after tea, but Kashif Ali Moon’s 5-15, plus 3-22 from ant Sheeran skittled Barlaston for 99.

Alsager won by three wickets at home against Porthill Park seconds.

Ben Warrender’s 44 was the principal contributi­on to Porthill Park’s 162 all out. Stephen Groom (3-33) and Oliver Mitchell (3-40) did the bulk of the damage.

Alsager had a bit of a wobble at the start of their reply, but a sixthwicke­t stand of 94 between Aqeel Ahmed (52) and Sam Goodwin (43no) helped them to their target. Matthew Lowe claimed 3-16.
