In-form Modd men cruise to the points against Stone SP

MODDERSHAL­L & Oulton seconds powered past their Stone SP counterpar­ts in NSSCL Division Three.

The Modd men, sitting second in the table, had too much for their visitors as they amassed an eyewaterin­g 263-5 from their 40 overs.

Tom Phillips laid an excellent platform with 93, which contained 15 fours and one six, before Usman Saleem moved the home side through the gears.

He cracked 64, off just 28 balls, hitting seven fours and five sixes along the way.

And with Gareth Mcaloon adding 43, the Modd men were always in control of proceeding­s.

In reply, Toby Hough compiled 35, but Matthew Wright’s 5-20, plus double strikes from Josh Renshaw and Mcaloon, ensured Stone SP were skittled for 101.

It’s Meakins seconds who still lead the way, though, after winning by four wickets at Cheadle 2nd XI.

Two wickets apiece from Hashim Ahmed, Ollie Radzins, Simon Baker and Tom Fox, ensured Cheadle were bundled out for 125.

Sam Rushton top-scored with 36, with Ben Degg (26) and Jake Mills (25) also making decent headway.

William Riley and Ryan Harvey both struck twice after tea, but Tom Fox’s 50, containing seven fours, plus 24 from Zafar Iqbal and Hamaiz Mahmood’s 20 proved to be decisive.

Longton thrashed bottom-of-thetable Hem Heath in their derby meeting.

Simon Elwell struck 37 and Lee Ridgway weighed in with 29 as Longton reached 1654 all out at Trentham Lakes, despite Matthew Rogerson taking 6-42.

Rogerson’s haul was as good as it got for hosts Hem Heath, though, as they folded to 66 all out after tea.

Ashley Edge top-scored with 13, but Jacob Garlick (4-22), Brodie Mack (3-9) and Ryan Ellwell (3-14) comfortabl­y dealt with business.

Wedgwood’s Gareth Kinsey took a hat-trick, but his side were beaten at home by Eccleshall.

Kinsey dealt with the Eccleshall top order in his 3-23, but the hosts still managed to reach 134 all out.

Tom Hibbert’s 53, featuring six fours, provided some respite, with Ramzan Mohammed taking 3-29.

Mughal Jaleelbaig (35) led the

Wedgwood run chase, but double strikes from Matthew Buttery, Jonathon Bramall and Jack Armstrong left the home side all out for 118.

Checkley seconds eased to a sevenwicke­t triumph at home against Hanford.

Hanford were restricted to 132 all out as Jamie Richardson and Ben Carrigan claimed 3-21 and 3-25 respective­ly.

Arris Ziad compiled an excellent 62, which featured eight fours and one six.

Checkley had few concerns in knocking off the runs, however, as John Barks made an unbeaten 70.

Alistair Whiston and Kevin Whitehurst added 28 apiece to steer the hosts to their target.

Crewe sampled home comforts in their meeting with Audley seconds.

Louis Bacon made 64 not out in Crewe’s innings as they made excellent progress to 206-8.

Callum Bacon (34), Shajait Ali (26no) and Sam Goodier (24) were also in decent nick.

Richard Beckett captured 4-43 for Audley.

After tea, Beckett’s 34, 29 not out from Matthew Hammersley and Daniel Hammersley’s 26 gave Audley hope of a fine chase.

But Adrian Cockett (4-34) and Goodier (3-45) shared seven wickets as the visitors were dismissed for 160.
