On the match front, the Ladies County Team had an excellent home win against Eccleshall Ladies A in their recent match. Leek’s first pair of Caroline

Green and Janet Hardern won both sets 6-0 and 6-0 in their first game and only dropped one game in their second match, 6-0 and 6-1.

Ann Gould and Alison Randle also had a fine win against Eccleshall’s firsts, 6-3 and 6-4. Their second match rounded the evening off with another win for the duo 6-1 and 6-3 giving the Team a 4-0 win.

The Men’s teams have had a mixed week of results. The Men’s A team had another win on Wednesday in the City and Suburban league against Alsager. The match was a competitive one, with a strong pair from Alsager, but the end result was 3-1 in Leek’s favour. Pair 1 was Alex Cimino and Rich Smith, and pair 2 was Toby Gayes and Darren Abberley.

The B team played a good away match on Tuesday, with Dave

Williamson, Darren Abberley, Luke Thomson and Nial Edwards playing Walton A team, resulting in a 2-2 draw.

A much tougher game later in the week was played away against the Florence B team, which unfortunately results in a 4-0 loss. The C team also had a good win, 4-0, against Alsager’s D team.

Overall, another exciting week of tennis at Leek Tennis Club.
