Ashcombe Park ease to victory over Meakins

ASHCOMBE Park were in imperious form to sweep past Meakins thirds at Basford Bridge Lane in NSSCL Division Five.

Half-centuries from Rich Knott and Joe Thompson ensured Ashcombe Park motored to 263-7 from their 40 overs. Knott made 55 and Thompson struck 50, while Steve Proffitt (43) and Charlie Knott (31) were also in fine fettle.

Raqeeb Murad (41) and Jake Coxon (30) starred after tea for Meakins, but from 61-2, they crumbled to 96 all out.

Max Hill was the architect of their demise, finishing with 6-10, with Aidan Derbyshire (319) playing a key support role.

Leek were eight-wicket winners at Blythe.

Luke Trafford’s 4-27 - plus two wickets each from Tom Dodd and Richard Gill - ensured Blythe were rolled for 54.

Waqar Ali took two wickets on the resumption, but Leek cruised to the finishing line inside nine overs.

Caverswall secured a onewicket win at home against Little Stoke.

Set 169 to win, Glen Moore (40), Michael Dodd (32) and Craig Lancaster (25) chipped away at the target early on.

Will Humphreys (3-32) kept Little Stoke in contention as Caverswall found themselves 157-9.

But Richard Brooks (19no) and Jamie Roberts (2no) guided Caverswall to the narrowest of victories.

Earlier in the day, Little Stoke had recovered from 46-6 to reached 168-8.

Nick Bratt struck 46 not out, with Stuart Jones (37), Darren Irving (26) and Tim Twigg (22) also making valuable contributi­ons.

Lewis Wright scooped 3-11 for Caverswall, aided by doubles from James Gibson and Jack Amison.

Oakamoor seconds secured the spoils from their home encounter with Hanford in NSSCL Division Six.

Joe Avery was in excellent form with the bat as his half-century provided the cornerston­e of Oakamoor’s 229-7 from their 40 overs.

Avery compiled 70, which featured six fours, while Matthew Sells (33) and Jacob Fullick (24) played their part in a fine batting performanc­e.

In reply Hanford were dismissed for 165.

Moddershal­l & Oulton fifths defeated Endon seconds in their meeting.

A third-wicket stand of 126 between Stephen Powell and James Mason helped the Modd men to 215-3, Powell finished unbeaten on 89 and Mason made 67 during their excellent partnershi­p.

In reply, Endon were on 1716 at the close.
