Events as well as activities for Staffordshire Day
A FILM festival, artisan markets, Instameets and a host of activities in outdoor attractions are among the headline events for the annual Staffordshire Day celebrations on Sunday May 1.
With less than a month to go, organisers Enjoy Staffordshire are encouraging businesses and residents to get involved with the first physical celebrations for three years by attending events and sharing images on social media with #Staffordshireday.
The theme is The Great Outdoors and there is already a great selection of things to do on the day, showcasing everything the county has to offer, but particularly green spaces and outdoor attractions.
Confirmed events for Staffordshire Day 2022 include:
• Instameets in Leek offering
guided walks of each town’s most Instagrammable spots, lead by local experts
• A vintage market at
the National Memorial Arboretum, near Lichfield, including tasting sessions with the finest Staffordshire food and drink suppliers
• A plant hunter’s fair
at Weston Park, south Staffordshire, featuring specialist nurseries and advice on choosing the best plants for your garden
• The Staffordshire Day Film
Festival at the Mitchell Arts Centre, Hanley, to crown the winners of the Staffordshire Day Film Competition
Philip White, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member with responsibility for tourism at Staffordshire County Council said: “With only a matter of weeks to go until this year’s Staffordshire Day celebrations and now that the first activities are confirmed, excitement is really starting to build.
“The day is all about celebrating what’s great about our county and just how much there is on offer for visitors and everyone who lives here.
“We have been delighted with the way people have rallied to the Staffordshire
Day cause over the last six years and I’m in no doubt this year will be just as good.
“Make sure the date is in your diary, Sunday 1 May.”
The Staffordshire Day celebrations are organised by Enjoy Staffordshire, the official tourist board for the county, with the support of We Are Staffordshire, Staffordshire County Council and other local authority partners.
