‘Some people want to beat off good news with a big stick’

JUST because Jeremy Corbyn is gone, it does not mean that the people who supported him have vanished, like a spell from Harry Potter. They are still with us.

Some people want to crowd out the good news with distractio­n politics or manufactur­e personnal vendettas.

Let’s hear some good news – £943,000 for arts and culture over the next three years. Due to the work of Councillor Ralphs, the TIC is open three days a week plus two Saturdays a month,with a plan to expand those hours, covid permitting.

The Market Hall project was passed at SMDC cabinet meeting and will provide a 21st century offer as is available in market halls such as Altrincham and Shrewsbury.

The railway will have the track laid into Leek by October 2022,with the station to follow and associated businesses and employment they provide.

Heritage railway and a canal basin is perfect for tourism and that is why Langollen has done so well.

The Staffordsh­ire Moorlands did well at the tourism awards, boxing well above our weight as we always do.

In Biddulph, Labour members tried to stop the extention of Victoria Business Park in the local plan which would have provided jobs for local people and young adults, luckily they did not succeed.
