Looking good! School retains Ofsted ranking
‘Pupils are happy, enthusiastic and confident learners’ say inspectors at Moorlands school
A MOORLANDS primary school is celebrating after receiving a second consecutive ‘good’ judgement from Ofsted in their most recent inspection.
Great Wood Primary School, Tean, welcomed two inspectors to the school and were confirmed as retaining their status.
Inspectors focused upon the learning which takes place across the school, and also spoke with parents/carers, staff, pupils, trustees and colleagues from across The Moorlands Primary Federation (TMPF), to get a full picture of the school ahead of making their final judgement.
The school, which began working with locally-based multi-academy trust, The Moorlands Primary Federation, in January 2015, received their first ‘Good’ judgement in November 2015.
School leader Ben Adamson said: “We are so proud of all of the pupils and each member of the team for their hard work and commitment to their school, and of our strong community links.
“The judgement is great news which we will celebrate as a school family. It is so pleasing to see recognition that pupils are happy, feel safe, and enjoy learning here at Great Wood Primary.”
Chair of TMPF Trust Board, Nick Chesters added: “We are very proud
of the children for showing how much they enjoy learning, of the parents and carers for their support of the school, and also of the staff within the school and across The Moorlands Primary Federation for working together to share expertise, to support one another, and to help provide a good quality education for the pupils.”
Moorlands Primary Federation CEO Jared Eccles said: “Ofsted recognising that Great Wood primary remains a good school is brilliant news.
“The school is a happy place at the heart of its community which has been on an exciting journey since we started working together.
“It was remarkable that two of TMPF’S five schools underwent Ofsted inspections at the same time, and the children, parents, carers and wider family members were brilliant throughout both.
“We are delighted that through the skill and commitment of colleagues in these schools, and also those based in our other Trust schools who took time to come over and meet with inspectors, or offered support in other ways.”
In their report, inspectors said: “Pupils are happy, enthusiastic and confident learners.
“Teachers plan exciting lessons and develop pupil’s skills and knowledge in a wide range of subjects
“Leaders have high expectations of pupils. They have created a highly inclusive school in which all pupils thrive and achieve well.
“Staff encourage pupils to be responsible, caring and ambitious.”
