Reminder to get booster...

-

PEOPLE in Staffordshire are encouraged to get vaccinated before schools break up for half term, especially if they are planning to visit elderly or vulnerable relatives.

There are a number of walk-in sites that offer first, second and booster doses of the covid vaccine, with a number of clinics offering vaccines to school aged children.

Dr Richard Harling, Staffordshire County Council’s Director of Public Health, said: “The vaccine remains the best way to protect yourself and others against Covid-19, and with the school holidays coming up, it’s even more important for people to make sure they are fully vaccinated. There are a number of pop up sites across the county making it easier than ever for families to get protected against the virus.

“We must ensure we’re doing everything we can to not put those most vulnerable at risk. If you are still in need of a first, second or booster dose, please get this booked or attend a local walk-in clinic as soon as possible.”

Anybody aged 5 and over is eligible for a first and second dose and people aged 16 and over are eligible for the booster jab.

The NHS is also offering a spring booster dose to people over the age of 75 and those aged 12 and over with weakened immune systems.

People planning to travel abroad during the half term holiday are advised to check entry requirements for the countries they’re visiting. Advice about travelling abroad, including the latest information on coronavirus and entry requirements can be found at: www.gov.uk/foreigntravel-advice
